Jamshedpur girl Tanushree Dutta, was crowned Ponds Femina Miss India Universe 2004 at a glittering ceremony in Mumbai.
Dutta, a dusky B Com second year student from Pune University, bagged the coveted crown amidst stiff competition from 29 contestants who were chosen from about 6,000 girls from all over the country.
The ceremony, held at the sprawling Bandra-Kurla Complex, saw Lakshmi Pandit, a Mumbai-based classical dancer walking away with the Miss India World title.
Tanushree's reply to actor Sanjay Dutt's question in the final round, whether there was a healthy competition when only one wins, won her the crown.
The audience broke into applause when she replied, "When there is unhealthy competition everybody is a loser."
Tanushree Dutta plays the role of a temptress in her debut movie Chocolate.

The pretty teenager who says she loves doing ad films.Has done several ad films for famous brands like Samsung Electronics, Bournvita, Pepsi and Santro opposite "Sharukh Khan" In a very short time of time she achieved the peak , as a child actress and said there is nothing more she can do now …. than complete her studies which has been neglected for long. She is well known to Hindi Tv audience as a Child artist.She is well known for her characters in "Des main nikla hoga chand"and the all time super hit serial "Kyunki Saas bhi kabi bahu thi". and Hum 2 hain na where in she played a dual role. She is also seen as a child artiste in the super hit movie Koi Mil Gaya starred Hrithik Roshan and Priety Zinta. She is also seen in other movies like "Jaago" and "Hum Kaun Hai".
She has now became the Brand new Actress of the Tollywod industry. She says that iam just a small girl and i pray god to give me nice offers in the industry. She has got many offers in tollywood, Kollywood, and bollywood industries.

Biography
Born and brought up in Bombay on May 10, Namitha entered the Telugu film industry via the Tamil route. Her father is a businessman and her mother is a housewife. She is actually a Malayali and was introduced into the film industry first by Malayalam film director Siddhique. She became popular with the tamil version of the film Engal Anna.
Miss India contest brought Namitha to telugu film industry. After entering Tollywood, she immediately grabbed the attention of telugu film lovers with her action in both Sontam and Gemini though the films didn’t fare well in the box office.
Namitha loves White and Black colors. White roses are her favorite flowers. She swims and plays Badminton in her leisure. Interestingly she used to coach swimming for kids. Namitha reads Novels of Sidney Sheldon and prefers reading Comics. Coming to films, Namitha likes Nandita Das, Tabu, Paresh Rawal. She likes Animals and Birds aswell.
